The February 2012 meeting was attended by 31 members and 3 guests.
Bobby kicked off the meeting to discuss the steering committee's recent trip to the George Street Ale House in New Brunswick for the February 2012 steering meeting. The meeting was attended by Bobby, Craig, Keith Story, Gary, Jay DeSimmone and Joe J. The meeting was less formal as usual since there weren't as many topics to cover and the upstair drinking area was rather loud and only condusive to drinking beer.
The committee discussed building a project guideline document to help encourage all club projects are handled fairly and organized for the members wishing to participate in them. These guidelines are in their early stages and the committee will present their efforts in the near future.
The comittee also discussed enhancing the rewards for the Home Brewer Of the Year (HBOY) program. This is being done to provide recognition to not only the winner, but to those who put up a fight for the title. More to come in the near future on this.
Finally, there was discussion about spending club funds to add more items to the club's equipment inventory to make the club system easier and more efficient to use. Details will be sent out to the club.

Next, Bobby went over the active projects the club was involved in.
The members of the Wee Whale II picked up their shares from Keith Story's house on Friday, 2/24/2012. There were shares of oaked and non-oaked beer to be distributed. The general consensous was that the members preferred a blend of the two. Thanks to Keith for hosting the brew day and storing the fermentation vessels, it was much appreciated.
The 1st Russian Imperial Stout batch was distributed at Jay Buchanan's house on February 19th. Thanks for hosting Jay.
Steering Committee member Craig Easton is hosting the second batch of the RIS and several members of the club helped move the beer into the barrell that Jay's batch was just removed from. Thanks Craig.
Bobby and JD are currently each hosting an oak barrell filled with Framboise. That will be distributed sometime in May. Bobby's barrell is older than JD's. The club will do some tasting to see if Bobby's still has any further use.
Crazy Competition Frank went over some updates about the current competitions that are occurring. He has a mailing list with all the important details included.

April's Club Only Competition will be Category 9: Scottish and Irish Ales. You still have time to brew something. The entry form will be put online soon. Due to the hectic nature of the Club Only Competition nights, entries will not be accepted the night of the meeting.
The February Club Only Competition was for Category 13: Stouts. Due to the large number of entries (14), the judging was handeled different than usual. The judging was split down the center with half the entries going to each side. The top entries would move on to a best of show round to be decided up on by 3 members not entering the competition. I the entries from each half of the room with the second highest votes was less than a 10 vote difference it would move on tobest of show round as well.
Club Only Competitions will be handled this way when there are a large number of entries, going forward.
